'Miss Selfridge - A New Era' by Natalie O'Neil, B.A. (Hons) Fashion Promotion

The Fashion Promotion course at UCLAN was the first of its kind in the UK. Established nearly 20 years ago, it has produced some of the fashion industry's major players in PR, Marketing and Brand Development. The successful industrial placement element of our course gives our students the opportunity of working in various promotion industries with national and international brands such as: Adidas, Playstation, Future Laboratory, River Island, Diesel, Arcadia, Elvis Jesus, Superdry, Ted Baker, Watermelon, Rare, and Arena and Vice Magazine.

Additionally, our students have achieved continued success in major competitions: Winners of the Creative Marketing, Accessories, Brand Development and Carrier Bag Design Awards at Graduate Fashion Week in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. We achieved Gold and Bronze in the prestigious London Photographic Awards in 2008 and 2007 respectively and have been 'runners up' in River Island Promotion, Adshel Student Design, D&AD, Storm Style Photography and MTV/Hewlett Packard awards.

Congratulations to Lauren Perry who was runner up in the Graduate Fashion Week Creative Marketing competition with her innovative 'Hollyoaks Chatter' campaign. Other nominated Fashion Promotion students were: Jo Barclay, Laura Hughes, Emily Blackman, and Stefany Errity who were in the running for Creative Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Fashion Innovation and Media & Design Awards. Well done to you all!

Well done to Year 2 students Ellie Osborne and Ashleigh Cowell who won first and second prize respectively in the Graduate Fashion Week/River Island packaging competition. She will be presenting her business plan to a panel of judges in Hong Kong shortly.
